The Modern Vedic Retreat
This project brings "Modern Indian" living to life by mixing traditional Vastu-inspired layouts with sleek, contemporary finishes. We used warm Teak wood and soft jali patterns to create a high-end home that feels culturally rooted yet perfectly modern.
The Client Story
The client was referred to us by a family member, but they were initially very skeptical. They had a bad experience with a previous designer who suggested an "all-white" minimalist look that felt too "Western" and impractical for an Indian household. They doubted if we could make a "modern" home feel warm and "Desi" enough for their parents. After seeing our mood boards featuring Indian marble and custom woodwork, they began to believe in us. Today, they love how the space handles both large family gatherings and quiet morning chai.
Project Requirements
Prayer & Gathering: A peaceful, well-lit space that flows into the main living area for family pujas.
The "Social" Kitchen: A large island with durable quartz, perfect for heavy Indian cooking and morning breakfast.
Textured Accents: Use fluted wall panels and mosaic backsplashes to add a "Boutique Hotel" feel.
Indoor-Outdoor Connection: Open views to the balcony to keep the home feeling airy during the Nagpur summers.
Design Approach
We used a "New India" palette. In the kitchen, we paired soft grey cabinetry with a textured tile backsplash and high-back wooden stools for a "cafe-at-home" vibe. In the living room, we anchored the space with a large, comfortable L-shaped sofa and a neutral geometric rug. By mixing black metal light fixtures with natural wood dining sets, we achieved a balance that is sophisticated enough for guests but tough enough for daily Indian life.
